About Mrs. Kirksey

This is my seventeenth year teaching in Coloma. I teach music to our K-3 students and Creative Arts, Movement, and Play to our Young Fives at Coloma Elementary School.

I studied music education, elementary education, and Spanish at Western Michigan University and received my bachelor's degree in 2007. I taught kindergarten migrant summer school in Kalamazoo Public that summer, and then started at Coloma as the Washington Elementary music teacher that fall. In 2012, I received my Master's in Music Education, also from WMU.

I love music, especially singing and musical theatre. I also enjoy crocheting, walking in the woods, traveling, and reading. I live with my husband and two children. My son is now seven years old and is a second grader! He enjoys Legos and will be playing basketball this year. My four-year-old daughter is incredibly independent and hilarious and began preschool and dance class this fall. Both of my kids love music, too! :) We're going to have a great year, Comets!
